Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time middle school teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. A bachelor’s degree and classroom experience are required; state certification is preferred. The middle school teacher is responsible for instructing Social Studies and Pre-Algebra III to 6th through 8th-grade students. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of the curricula for Social Studies and Pre-Algebra III. The teacher is also responsible for developing and implementing an elective curriculum, and for leading one elective section each trimester. The teacher will be responsible for approximately one third of the middle school administrative tasks. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with the other middle school teachers on implementing a comprehensive curriculum.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, state certification preferred
  • Previous teaching experience

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary is $31,000/year, plus a school-matched SIMPLE IRA retirement fund, as well as employer-paid competitive medical and dental benefits. All full-time teachers are eligible for one dependent tuition waiver per year.

Full-Time Fourth-Grade Teacher

Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time 4th Grade Teacher for the 2017-18 school year. A bachelor’s degree and classroom teaching experience are required; state certification is preferred. The 4th-grade teacher is responsible for instructing math, social studies, science, and language arts as well as for developing and implementing the current curricula for these subjects. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with the computer lab instructor on designing meaningful projects that support the 4th-grade classroom learning environment.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary is $31,000/year plus retirement IRA as well as competitive medical and dental benefits. All full-time teachers are eligible for one dependent tuition waiver per year.

Part-Time PE/Health Education Teacher

Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time PE/Health Education teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. The teacher will develop and implement the PE and Health Education curriculum for 4th through 8th Grades. This is a small classroom setting where the establishment of a positive learning environment and ample individual attention to students will be expected.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field or relevant experience
Experience teaching children

Hours and Compensation
This is an 11.25-hour/week position, including 7.5 instructional hours and 2 hours for planning and prep as well as 1.75 hours of teacher meetings. Compensation is $17/hour.

Part-Time Pre-Algebra I Teacher
Blacksburg New School – Blacksburg, VA
 
Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time Pre-Algebra I teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. The teacher will develop and implement daily 60-minute pre-Algebra I lessons for the fifth-grade level. Additionally, the Teacher will collaborate with the full-time fifth-grade teacher to ensure this math program is consistent for all students who are required to take fifth-grade math. This is a small classroom setting where the establishment of a positive learning environment and ample individual attention to students will be expected.

Hours and Compensation
This is a 9.5 hour/week position, including 5 instructional hours and 2.5 hours for planning and prep as well as 2 hours of teacher meetings. On-campus classroom hours are daily from 9-10 a.m. Compensation is $17/hour.
